Yay! I am super happy to share that I am newly certified as a CrossFit L1 Trainer (CF-L1). I love CrossFit for a lot of reasons, but after this step it’s that much more solid and I am so happy I jumped right in.
I find the definitions and methodology logical. I.e., CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements executed at high intensity. And the goal is fitness, which is measured by increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains. LOGIC. But maybe not common language.
So the backstory with CrossFit is that after retiring from competitive wrestling I worked through a number of different training styles—from straight lifting & cardio, to kettle bells and functional fitness, to eventually CrossFit (thank you my Chiron family), and I really had to figure out my relationship with movement just to celebrate and challenge what my body can do outside of competing in a highly skilled/specialized sport. In short, that relationship is groovy and that’s how I landed with CrossFit.
Anyways, when Victory opened last fall we started V-Fit, which for me morphed into programming//coaching the strength and conditioning for some of our senior level wrestlers and I’ve carried on with that since early 2021. I’ve watched the girls put in the work, develop and grow, and it’s fricken rewarding to be a small part of their ambitious journeys.
Life has professionally and personally changed drastically since the beginning of 2021 (maybe to be shared later).
But as I’ve begun to take next steps, this line of education and sharing what I’m already in love with doing is LOGICAL.
I’m not defining what “next” is, but this is part of it for now.
Thank you to everyone who pushes me and holds me accountable. Thank you to my people for believing in me and my work.
Much love my friends.
