Rest week is overrr. I kind of loved the change of pace and low pressure. I had a slight recurring mental fomo but my body is thanking me, and I was able to catch up on a lot of task-work that I’d been avoiding. I leaned into all the fun little odd-ball things I enjoy doing and kept things light, short and sweet.
After quarterfinals the entire week was supposed to be off. However…I’m not really sold on the needing to do nothing bill of goods. I think active recovery honors my body’s need to move and perform no matter the volume and intensity we’re cycling off from. I think it’s natural, and believe we can fully recharge without going comatose.
Sunday: 30-minute easy row, approx 6K, and then 45mins sauna
Monday: off, activity limited to coaching hours
Tuesday: 200kb cleans with g-mitch (100 @ 14kg 100 @ 16kg), 20 handstand shoulder taps b/t sets of 10. Lots of shoulder accessory work after. ~45 mins of play.
Wednesday: bulgarian bag protocol with Caitlyn (15mins), 60mins infrared sauna
Thursday: body work with Gary
Friday: 30-minute easy jog (treadmill, late)
Saturday: 40-minute hike by the river
I slept a lot. Like on average almost 9 hours.
I’m switching my rest day to Wednesdays and hitting it hard on the weekends 😬. I’m going to have to watch my back and ease in with modifications for my ankle, but double-session training days start tomorrow!
