With coffee. JK, kind of. I got into a time crunch last night with this daily blog. Life is really full right now. I flipped through my notes to see what sparked my interest and one of the things that stood out felt like perfect timing. It was a little reminder I had about needing to fill my cup when life is full of competing priorities and deadlines.
Doing the little things that bring me joy and maintain my sanity—training, journaling, meal prepping. BUT this is the kicker. Those are things I enjoy to do, but they’re also disciplines that make life smoother and allow me to show up. It’s all fun and games when life is smooth sailing, but the real test is what we can do under pressure. That’s what we’re training and developing habits for. Busy week: will I get enough sleep, train, meal prep and lay a solid foundation so that I can show up for others in my work, relationships and under pressure? Taking the time to do the things that matter and center myself create margin in a full schedule, and magic happens in the margin. Discipline feels most important when life is hard. That’s when it feels most important to lock in the controllables so we can respond well to the variables.
Some reminders I have leading into high pressure weeks that I go back to when under the gun: Control the controllables. Be efficient. Plan accordingly and prepare effectively. Stay present and emotionally available. Evaluate responses. Commit it to Christ.
